Outdoor Graduation Ceremonies


Governor Cuomo announced outdoor, socially distanced graduations of up to 150 people will be allowed beginning June 26th, subject to any outbreaks or significant changes in the metrics.

School District Budget Votes – Deadline Extended


To ensure every New Yorker's voice is heard, school board election deadlines have been extended. A new Executive Order has been issued extending the deadline for school districts to receive school budget ballots.


To be counted, school budget ballots can be accepted by hand delivery through 5pm on June 9th and received by mail through June 16th by the school district.

Legislation to Extend Deadlines for Absentee Ballots


Governor Cuomosigned legislation(S.8130-D/A.10516-A) that the Assembly and Senate passed last week that will extend the deadline to submit absentee ballots until the day of the election.


To be counted, primary ballots must be postmarked by June 23rd. The Governor previously issued Executive Orders allowing all New Yorkers to vote absentee in the June 23rd primary elections and ensuring every New Yorker registered to vote receives a postage-paid absentee ballot application in the mail.







NY State of Health Special Enrollment


Reminder: the special enrollment period through the NY State of Health Plan Marketplace will remain open throughJune 15, 2020. New Yorkers without health insurance can apply for a planthrough NY State of Health.


Because of a loss of income, New Yorkers may also be eligible for Medicaid, the Essential Plan, subsidized Qualified Health Plans or Child Health Plus.

  • Unemployment Insurance - The one-week waiting period for Unemployment Insurance claims for workers directly affected by COVID-19 has been eliminated. The Department has also announced that they are changing the unemployment insurance job search requirement that is currently in place. No work search activities will be required during the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information check out the DOL page here: https://labor.ny.gov/unemploymentassistance.shtm

  • Those in need can call 2-1-1 from any phone for a free, confidential referral to resources providing food, shelter, rent assistance, childcare options and other essential services. The helpline is also able to answer questions and provide referrals for COVID-19 related concerns. Simply dial 2-1-1 or visit 211neny.org

  • The NYS Eviction Moratorium has been extended through August 20th.

  • If you believe your business is an essential service but has not been included on ESD’s list, you can apply for ‘essential service status’ at this link: https://esd.ny.gov/sites/default/files/Request%20for%20Designation%20Form_0.pdf

  • Charter will be providing free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription (where service is available), at any service level up to 100 Mbps, as well as opening up Charter WiFi Hotspots across our footprint for public use.
